The CKC bus trip...
We did not have enough people for a bus - but we did have a van full! We started out from the VIP parking lot about 7:15am on Saturday and headed up for CKC - St Paul. We got there in plenty of time for registration for last minute class sign ups...several ladies were able to get into some of the fun classes available. There were booths set up for shopping - The Paper Loft was my favorite booth. I was able to see some of the newest lines of papers and snapped samples of them up! Look for Cosmic, Back Country, Winter Wonderland along with a Christmas line coming soon to VIP!
SEI and Rusty Pickle were other favorites among the ladies. There were lots of make and takes to be done, showing off techniques.
I saw a lot of VIP customers wandering the show and had a good chance to talk to them; some scrappers had been up at the convention since Thursday, having a fun time in classes and late night crops.
We left just as the "WILD" fans were coming for the hockey game, all decked out in their jerseys and beads. We tried to have dinner in St Paul, but it was crazy busy with the fans.
We decided dinner at Applebee's was in order, where we re-hashed the day's events. All in all, it was a very good day and we will definitely be doing a road trip again! Ginger
VIP is having a LAYOUT CONTEST!
We are looking for single or double 12 x 12 layouts (using VIP products) featuring a Halloween or Fall theme; first prize will be a VIP gift certificate for $25; contest deadline is Nov 2 at 5pm. Window Pane Classes are back @ VIP!
We are excited to be able to offer our very popular “Window Pane” class again with a new twist…salvaged windows! Jennifer Lee, from Salvaged Treasures (a furnishings/home décor boutique) was a speaker for the Fall 2008 Women’s Expo on Oct 18 and this years’ theme was GREEN (recycle/reuse)! We displayed some of our finished windows at the Salvaged Treasures booth during the Expo.
Our first window pane class ($15) will be on November 1 at 10:30am – class size is limited. Other class dates will be Nov 9; Nov 22 and Dec 7 (there will be another class in December if needed). If you are interested in this class, sign up at VIP; then stop by Salvaged Treasures and buy your window pane before class…there is a choice of 4, 6, 8, or 9 pane windows – prices will range from $24-$35! You can use the window panes as they are or re-finish them as you please.

Mayo Family Connection
VIP is pleased to be the host site for the scrapbook club of the Mayo Family Connection! Mayo Family Connection is an important support group for significant others of Mayo fellows; residents; plus medical and graduate students. There are different groups to be involved in and the scrapbooking club is new. So if you are interested in joining this fun group for scrapping and you are part of the Mayo Family Connection, come to VIP and join the fun! This club will meet on the second Monday and the fourth Tuesday of the month in VIP's Creative Zone from 6-9pm.

Calling all card makers!
Last week we told you about the Rochester area high schools "Operation Hometown Gratitude" and their Veteran’s Day project. On Nov. 11th, the students plan to pack as many boxes as they can. They send packages to our area men & women serving in the military overseas. These packages mean so much to soldiers. OHG has asked VIP to supply thank you cards to be included the packages. We had a nice response last week but OHG’s goal is 500 boxes so we need a few more cards!

Please know that our Creative Zone is available for you to scrap – FREE! Just think you can bring in your stuff and work at your leisure. You can leave and grab some lunch or dinner, come back and jump right back in where you left off.
